Harald Koeck (born 1957) is an Austrian artist,independent researcher, and filmmaker knownfor his provocative work that confronts the taboos surrounding death. His art, particulary his "Leib ohne Seele" (Body without Soul) series, is heavily influenced by his time spent in pathology and forensic de3partments and morgues (often a san artist-in-residence), documenting autopsies through drawing, painting, performance, photoggraphy anf film. BIOGRAPHY Education Artistic Focus, Research and Work: Koeck studied at th einternational Academy of Fine Arts (Kokoscka) and later eraned a Master´s degree from the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts, where he was in the master class of Friedensreich Hundertwasser.Koeck´ primary artistic theme is the confrontation with death, anatomy, pathology,and forensic.His work aims to break social taboos surrounding death by presenting the internal body and the process of decay in an aesthetic,raw, and often colourful manner, challenging societal norms of what is considered beautiful or repulsive. He works across various mediums.To facilitate his artwork, Koeck held "artist-in-residence"and conducted independent research in various renowned medical institutions.
